A Lovely Grave

Return to me firefly How did you escape in the night sky? Colors that will carry me home Colors that will dig up my bones Return to me honeybee Sting me and I’ll sink to the undersea Memories spinning undone Memories under the sun Sail to the stars my love, I feel you in my blood You are eternity, or was it all a dream? I’ll go back, knowing me Lock me inside with your poetry Your ghost is like a perfumed hint Lingering from strings within And what worked perfectly? Somehow then I felt I deserved to be Now my shadow’s drawn so far Somewhere up above the stars Oh, thank you for me and what used to be Here’s to a dream that I used to see What a strange, strange world, I know, I know What a strange, strange world, I know, I know Sail to the stars my love, I feel it in my blood You are eternity, or was it all a dream? Sail to the stars my love, I feel you in my blood You are eternity, or was it all a dream? Wet pavement, wooded noise, whispers in the breeze Moonlight in the dark and the fog and the trees With my body above the grass I asked Streetlights glare when they used to glow This place is heavy and I’m ready to go I head back home where I used to know to read the pages I wrote ages ago

September 03:06
Four hundred seasons later Are you so sure spring will come? I don’t know why But suddenly I’m scared of the dark in my own mind When I was small I loved the fall Oh but now, I shiver at the breeze Somewhere up above your heartbeat Starry sleep lifts up your head Floating wrapped inside your bedsheets Somewhere you’re already dead Lost voice in the dark Yesteryear hides behind closed doors What’s a memory forgotten, drifting off in space like hanging unsaid words with chirping birds that sing outside my room when there’s no moon to see the sight that God has painted with his light? Sometimes at night I find that I’m alone and bright like flame whose smoke just dissipates and doesn’t go to heaven, no, it waits and fades like writing from a page until it’s blank Somewhere up above your heartbeat Starry sleep lifts up your head Floating wrapped inside your bed sheets Somewhere you’re already dead

Trace of You 03:18
Watch all the stars burn out See all the pretty faces leave Watch all the stars burn out See all the eye-shines disappear Couldn’t find a trace of you Couldn’t find a trace of you at all Couldn’t find a trace of you Couldn’t find a trace of you Must have gone away again What’s between us? I wade into the waters of before this retrospective weight This flower blooms for just one season Blossom drifting through the treetops for a little while, at least I smiled Maybe I’ll just fade away and count my lucky stars Oh spirit, capture me Maybe you and me were meant to be forever lost at sea Your constellations break from me Couldn’t find a trace of you Couldn’t find a trace of you at all Couldn’t find a trace of you Must have gone away again Couldn’t find a trace of you Couldn’t find a trace of you at all Couldn’t find a trace of you Must have gone away again Couldn’t find a trace of you Couldn’t find a trace of you at all Heaven has a place for you Heaven has a place for you I know

From my dreams I tumble to Earth from the clouds up above and now everything’s dirt and I try to fall back to sleep to capture the color I used to believe, but it lost its glow as it got Old and slowly died And we will weep goodbyes Until then I’ll smile as you blossom, so alive Everything I do Will lose itself so soon Then again, every minute spent with you is new Absorbing warmth from up in the vent Through my skin I still feel your scent on me as it reaches my bones They are different now with a different glow Take the photograph and sail Away into the sky And we will weep goodbyes Until then I’ll smile as you blossom, so alive Everything I do Will lose itself so soon Then again, every minute spent with you is new Maybe a beautiful day Maybe a beautiful day Maybe a beautiful day Maybe a beautiful day

Anemic 02:14
I can’t sleep and I can’t eat and I can’t breathe and I can’t dream I can’t walk and I can’t talk and I can’t feel a single thing I can’t see and I can’t sing and now I don’t know what to think I’m so tired of being tired, and I’m so tired of being awake I’m anemic I’m anemic I’m anemic I’m anemic I’m anemic I’m anemic I’m anemic

And We Drown 03:27
Another day, sunrise shining Waking naked on my island What the hell, let’s take some shells and bang them up against our skulls Ocean roar, please no silence Split my voice with constant crying Swim through waves we’ve caught on tape Hear my spirit taking shape O, the sirens beam out holy noise Float inside my clouds like a theremin’s voice Sing my human bones into the sand Drown my violent spine inside your hand When it’s all over and I’m in the ground I will return to the beautiful sound of nothingness and stay in the waves I won’t be afraid I won’t even know my own name
7.
(Upward) 00:57
I bury my shadows in your cemetery, cemetery I’m happy I’ve known your human bones Slowly I drown upward And it’s all temporary, temporary
8.
So I return back to the start with tangled strings inside my heart I am the embryo of every word unsaid I am the breath still left in bodies resting dead Rest my ghosts and auguries in cardboard boxes in the dark Let us sway away this hour as we spin around a spark I remark and laugh with you, pity we can’t stay I love today I am your here; I am your now I am your skies; I am your ground I am your sight; I am your sound I am your why; I am your how And in my dream I learn so simple Only the sea; there are no great waves or tiny ripples I am your here; I am your now I am your skies; I am your ground I am your sight; I am your sound I am your why; I am your how
